Hello, thank you for checking out my musings and speculations about the not so distant future. We reside in exciting and perilous times as a global community. The next 100 to 200 years in human history holds the promise of establishing ourselves as an interplanetary species, or regressing into a new Dark Ages caused by ignorance and greed prevailing over wisdom and empathy. Either way, these are the two choices facing human civilization, as maintaining the status quo is unsustainable and will only lead to the forewarned Dark Ages. Despite the existential threats of our own making, I remain confident in our ability to overcome these challenges. I seek to engage my fellow sci-fi nerds and futurists with hard sci-fi tales that explore how climate change, space resource exploitation, space exploration, genetic engineering, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and post-capitalism will shape human society in the coming generations. I appreciate you for taking these journeys with me starting with my debut graphic novel “A Tall Order.” - Tendai
A Tall Order
In the year 2037, the U.S. is in Depression 2.0; mass automation has worsened inequality and has the country on the brink of widespread civil unrest. President Jacqueline Wright, who upon taking office, is faced with China launching a surprised manned mission to Mars. While searching for a way to respond, she is presented with the idea of building a space elevator, a 66,000 km cable into orbit that would not only save the U.S. economy, but revolutionize the world. But she must fight from getting pulled down by politics, naysayers, and saboteurs. If she succeeds, humanity will truly become a spacefaring civilization.
